A Little Essie Nail Haul

essie nail polishes

During Priceline's last 40% off cosmetics sale I decided to pick up a few more Essie polishes. I may be going against the summer grain here, but these shades have been on my wishlist for a long time now, and looked too good to be ignored.

Merino Cool is a gorgeous shade of grey with a tinge of purple, Sole Mate a deep plum, and Wicked, the vampiest of them all, is a very dark (almost black) red. It’s hard to pick a favourite because I honestly love them all. I will definitely be wearing Merino Cool a lot this summer. Sole Mate is probably the closest to my heart, it’s very similar to my much beloved Mrs O’Leary’s BBQ from OPI and it’s a kind of shade I like wearing all year round, no matter what the season.

Butter London's 'Yummy Mummy'

I recently discovered that my local Biome store (an eco store based in Brisbane) stocked Butter London nail polishes! For $22 AUD, it's not cheap, but it was almost impossible for me to find a legitimate site that shipped to Australia for less. Also, when I saw they had the shade I was after, which happens to be named 'Yummy Mummy' (interesting...), I kind of refused to leave without out it. Yummy Mummy is a light brown colour with a hint of shimmer. I'm usually not one for shimmery polishes, but with this one it's barely noticeable. I love it so much I've been wearing it for weeks now, so naturally I just had to blog about it. The packaging is amazing, it has a very luxurious look to it, and like other high end nail polishes, it has a cap that covers the brush, which I think this helps the varnish last longer. Butter London claim to be a '3 Free' company, their polishes contain no formaldehyde, no toluene, do DBP (dibutyl phthalate), colourants or carcinogens (basically every toxic chemical currently linked to cancer) and are animal cruelty free.

Rimmel Salon Pro Nail Polish Swatches

Rimmel Salon Pro Lycra: Classical Red & Soul Session
I just love Rimmel polishes. Not only are they cheap but their brushes are amazing. They are so easy to use and only takes one to two swipes to coat the entire nail. I usually go for the 60 second polishes, but decided to try out the new Salon Pro range.

237: Soul Session
Soul Session is a lovely, earthy pink. Great for a natural, everyday look.

706: Classical Red
On the opposite end of the colour range, there's Classical Red. It's a little lighter than I initially expected, but how can you ever go wrong with red polish? The salon pro range are usually $8.95 each at Priceline. I managed to get them with the 2 for $10 deal, so I ended up saving $7.95. Woo!

OPIs 'Mrs O'Leary's BBQ' Swatch

This month I've been loving this deep, burgundy red from OPI: “Mrs O’Leary’s BBQ”. I feel like I've been transported back into the 90s when I wear this. Who would have thought a little bit of nail polish could make you feel that way?

| Products of The Month | March '13

My first favourites post in ages! I should really start doing this every month now, it's great to go through your products and see what you have and haven't been using.

Shu Uemura Skin Purifier Cleansing Oil

This product is great for removing makeup, and it doesn’t clog pores or strip the skin either. Review to come!

Botani Boost Balancing Moisturiser

An organic, anti-bacterial, balancing moisturiser that also fights against blemishes? I’m sold. And now that it's Autumn, and my skin is less oily, this moisturiser helps to balance my skin, protecting it from becoming too dry but not making it too oily either.

Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Oil

I’ve heard many great things about this oil, so when my Trilogy Rosehip oil ran dry I decided to give Kiehl’s a go. So far I am loving the results, and will definitely be posting a full review on this soon.

A nail varnish that I’ve only been using for a week but am absolutely in love with. I just love the colour. Click heading to check out the swatches!

Portmans Nail Polish Swatches

Seriously, who goes into Portmans and buys just their nail polishes? Well, apparently I do now:

Opulent Peacock
This is my favourite of the two, 'Opulent Peacock', a gorgeous metallic aqua that looks different at every angle.

Daring Plum
Daring Plum also has a hint of shimmer in it, but it's definitely not as noticeable as Opulent Peacock.

For any Australians reading, the varnishes are priced at $7.95 but they do have a 2 for $10 deal! They also have a gorgeous red and another shimmery midnight blue that took my fancy, so I'll definitely be popping in again to pick those two up :)

OPI Skyfall Mini Lacquers Set

Swatches from the limited edition Skyfall collection from OPI. I somehow managed to snag this from a dump table in the cosmetics section at DJs during the Boxing Day sales. Got it for $12!
